Reds worth reaching for year round, basics worth investing in, and a Dries Van Noten resale rabbit hole
Every year around this time, the internet floods with red and pink edits that expire on February 15th. Instead we curated secondhand and vintage pieces worth wearing well past the holiday — reds that work in March, pinks that make sense in July, burgundy that never really goes out of rotation.
The best Valentine's shopping isn't about the occasion. It's about the pieces you keep reaching for long after it's over — a bag that becomes your everyday, boots that carry you through the rest of winter, sandals you're already packing for summer. We pulled from community closets across the platform, from vintage Prada to a new-to-us-brand Nomasei. These pieces aren't seasonal, they're just good.
Reds Worth Keeping Past February
A bag that earns its place year-round
The Row Sofia 10 Small Leather Tote in Red - This style is still a 10. Structured accordion shape and can do day or night with your Gala pants and Ophelia sweater.
Lady Dior Nylon Medium Tote in Red/Gold - The nylon Lady Dior is lighter and arguably more wearable than the lambskin. Chicest laptop bag.
Prada Vintage Red Nylon Gold Handle Tote - Similar to the Dior but at a way better price point. Vintage Prada nylon in red with gold hardware.
Chanel Deauville Canvas and Leather Tote - The Deauville is Chanel’s most wearable tote. This one’s not precious, and you can just start wearing it.
To wear right now
Gucci Fuchsia Short Sleeve Cashmere Turtleneck (S) It’s very Caroline Kennedy. Yes, it has a small hole, but if you know a good tailor, this is an incredible find.
Nomasei Aria Boots in Patent Stretch Burgundy (37) A Paris-based independent brand making beautifully crafted Italian shoes. The burgundy patent is a gorgeous hue without screaming red on your feet.
Gucci Purple Ruched Patent Leather-Trimmed Bodysuit (2) This is the Valentine’s outfit for someone who’s not doing a dress. More purple than pink, but you get it.
Chanel Vintage Pink Tweed Skirt (38) It’s giving very Carrie Bradshaw or Elle Woods in my head. Honestly would go well with the Gucci bodysuit or turtleneck above.
G.H. Bass Whitney Coco Weejuns in Red Croc-Embossed (9.5) Classic loafer shape, textured croc finish that makes red feel fun.
To take you into summer
Le Monde Beryl Red Satin Bow Slides (9.5) Glossy satin, made in Italy. They work for a dinner in February (if you’re at the beach, lucky you) and with linen pants in July.
Vintage Prada Suede Scalloped Slides in Pink (39) Scalloped edges, soft suede, 90s silhouette. Maybe it’s snowing outside, but they’ll look great with a Pucci or Missoni dress this summer and are at a great price.
Adriana Degreas Solid Flower Power Frilled Dress in Rose (M) Brazilian resortwear that makes me want to go on vacation.

Brand to know: Sold Out NYC
After a column full of red satin and fluo pink, let’s talk about the other side of your closet — the pieces that do the actual work. Sold Out NYC has been quietly building a following around one idea: basics should feel considered. Founded in New York in 2017 by women who wanted premium essentials without the pretense, the brand focuses on what you actually reach for — tees, cashmere, silk shirts, tailored trousers. Modern silhouettes, neutral palettes, fabrics that hold up.
Looking at what our community is buying right now, a few pieces keep showing up. The Cashmere Polo in grey is a favorite — it’s a knit that layers under a blazer or wears on its own. Also, I’ve learned that cheap cashmere is never worth it, but this feels like the right price for quality. The Everything Shirt in black or white is another repeat across closets. It’s structured and polished but relaxed. And lastly, the Long Sleeve Perfect Tee is the most classic of classics and is in multiple closets.
For right now, while it’s still cold: the Turtleneck in Bordeaux, the Signature Crew in black, and the Sheer Silk Shirt (sexy sexy and almost sold out). These are pieces that will get you through the rest of February and into Spring without having to think too hard. Helena Hodne did a more in-depth review and styling around some of her favorite pieces back in October that is worth a read.
Investing in quality basics is always worth the time (and money in our opinion) — and seeing what other people are reaching for is a good place to start. Browse what the community is shopping for from Sold Out NYC on the Feed.
A theRealReal rabbit hole to wander down: DVN
I’ve recently been scouring the Dries Van Noten Resale Feed for inspiration. I got particularly hooked when Julian Klausner, who spent six years designing alongside the founder, took over as creative director at the end of 2024 and since then, has been keeping everything that makes DVN magnetic — the layering, the color clashes, the print development — while bringing a new sensuality to the silhouettes.
100% worth the read from Wonne Scrayen if you, too, want to go down the rabbit hole:
I splurged for these pants recently on the NAP sale, but there are so many fun printed pants and coats that will elevate a look because of the beautiful materials. This TRR jacket is from the current season and calling my name, though an XS, the brand’s more recent pieces run big. I’ve started getting some inspiration from what others are buying and added the bubble sweatshirt to my ISO list — if you’re the person who grabbed the black in my size, just lmk when you feel like selling. Here’s a large on TRR in beige and another large in red in the meantime for those interested.
Lastly, I had my eye on the suede purple sneakers as well, but I’m holding out to really see if they end up being a trendy piece I just see everywhere or a piece that will fit into my wardrobe by summer. There are great ones on resale in many different shades — here (brown 39.5), here (green 5), and here (snakeskin 37).
xo,
Claire

I really appreciate the idea of something you wear for Valentine's Day, but it's really for year-round wear. I've just started to see short sleeve knits emerging and the Gucci turtleneck is very on point. There is so much out there secondhand!
YES, or if you’re lucky in my case and have opportunities to celebrate Lunar New Year, doubling up on or outfit repeating reds for that. 🏮🧧
Also, following Sold Out now — such a sucker for a great quality knit polo.
